A painting should
Stand on its own
The viewers are
Invited to
Feel what they See
Find what is to
Be Found
Given an opportunity to believe in what they feel, the viewers are called to create their own narrative.
A strong emotional outpour results into a youthful display of critical thinking.
“I begin first by writing on the surface to construct the main theme and elements that will be living within the canvas. Then a process of “filling in the blanks” begins, bringing emotions thru colours and resolving the visual narrative. Abstraction has the ability to be more challenging - easier to question. The use of recognisable letters and words are to guide the viewer in certain directions, towards specific subjects and critical ideas - they act as indexes.
The loss of control does not occur, yet spontaneity is omnipresent. The artistic risk is what really fuels this collection.”
